(Q) How much does the compensator weigh? What about the SLIMELINE with a flash hider? With the gold comp nut?
(A) The compensator weighs 5.75 ounces. The Slimline with flash hider (SS) weighs 5.6 ounces. And slimline with a gold comp nut (ALUM) is 4.5 ounces.
(Q) How long is the compensator?
(A) Installed the length is 2 5/8 ", overall length is 3".
(Q) Does it really only take 30 seconds to take a UM3 off and on my gun?
(A) YES! ABSOLUTELY!
(Q) How much does the UM3 weigh?
(A) 2.5 oz
(Q) What if I have a sub compact gun? Will it fit?
(A) We do have a list of sub compact guns it WILL fit. The list will be posted on the website or you may call us directly and we Would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
(Q) What if I have a Ported or Compensated Barreled Gun?
(A) Use of the UM3 Mount with compensated/ported handguns:
The UM3 mounting system* is compatible with many compensated/ported handguns. The location of the porting is the determining factor in deciding if a specific handgun is appropriate to use with the UM3 mounting system. If the exhaust gasses are vented forward of the leading (front) edge of the UM3 mount then your handgun is appropriate to use with the UM3 mounting system. However, if your handgun is designed in such a way that the vented gasses would be directed under or inside of the UM3 mount then that specific handgun is inappropriate for use with the UM3 mounting system.
*The UM3 mounting system consists of the mount (optional shim) and the companion Universal Speed Holster the UMH3.
(Q) Why and under what conditions to I use the optional sight shim approach?
(A) One reason is the red dot optics were originally designed for rifles, which we now use on pistols. Most will zero the optic at a short distance. In order to zero in the optic with the built-in elevation, you would need more than 40MOA. Another reason is the tactical rail of the polymer framed guns are not always parallel with the barrel. This would cause it to turn up or down needing the shim approach.
(Q) Will this fit on my gun?
(A) That’s what makes this sight mount so unique. The patented design is to be universal on most guns with a MIL-STD 1913 rail system.
(Q) Do I need to zero my sight every time?
(A) No. after you install your optic, UM3 the first time and find zero, you can remove the system on and off and maintain zero point.
(Q) Can the UM3 sight mount maintain zero from gun to gun?
(A) Yes and No. On the same model: We have found that most metal framed hand guns are CNC machined straight and parallel. So with that said, on and off different metal framed hand guns zero can be maintained. If your gun has a polymer frame you may have to slightly adjust the zero point on your optic.
(Q) Does Glock have the MIL-STD 1913 rail system?
(A) No…..But our patented design allows our UM3 sight mount to fit on certain hand guns, such as Glock, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Springfield, Walther, Beretta,Colt, H & K, Keltec, Taurus, FNH-USA, CZ-USA, and many others right out of the box.
(Q) What tools do I need?
(A) None! Just 30 seconds or less of your time.
(Q) Where is the UM3 sight mount made?
(A) We are very proud to say, that all of the components are manufactured in Florida, United States.
(Q) Is the UM3 Sight mount made of Aluminum?
(A) Yes! It is made from Aluminum alloy – T6. CNC machined and MIL-Spec Type III Hard coated anodized black.
(Q) My UM Optic needs parts or service, what should I do?
(A) Contact UM customer service directly at 866-979-4486 and they will assist you.
