Owners of 3rd and 4th generation Glock handguns now have a solid, effective way to attach optical sights to their handguns. UM Tactical manufactures a special optic mounting for Glock handguns that have an integral frame accessory rail. These rails are standard on Glock pistols since 1996 with the introduction of the Gen-3 series of handguns. This unique aluminum mount attaches to the frame rail and provides two Picatinny rail surfaces for the attachment of accessories. The top rail can accommodate any appropriate handgun optical sight and the bottom rail can be used for lights, lasers and other accessories usually attached to the handgun frame rail. The Universal Handgun Sight Mount weighs 2.5 ounces, attaches without tools or modifications to the firearm and retails for under $100. Made in America
The Glock Universal Handgun Sight Mount is made in America and features construction of T6 aluminum alloy. UM Tactical machines these mounts on high precision CNC milling machines. The parts are then given a flat black anodized finish to protect the mount from glare, corrosion and abrasion. The mount has been carefully designed to work with the unique Glock accessory rail as well as other types of handgun rail systems. The high strength alloy construction combined with the precision machining make return to zero performance exceptional. Even on polymer framed handguns, little adjustment is needed to return the point of impact to zero after removing and reattaching the sight system. The slide reciprocation and ejection patterns of the Glock firearms were incorporated into the design of the mount to ensure complete reliability.
Optics and Glock'sGlock unveiled the G17 to the shooting world in the early ‘80’s. Many people expressed doubt about the “Plastic Pistol”. Decades later, no one can dispute that Glock handguns have revolutionized firearms. Many features we now take for granted were first introduced successfully by Glock. These changes, once considered ridiculous, have survived the decades and are now considered the norm. One small shortfall in the Glock design is the difficulty in attaching optical sights. Semi auto handguns are difficult to attach optical sight to. The conventional method was to drill and tap a line of holes along the both sides of the frame and attach a bridge style scope base. Polymer frame construction is not compatible with this technique. The UM Tactical Universal Handgun Sight Mount is an elegant engineering solution to this problem. By utilizing the integral frame rail, Glock owners can now attach any appropriate optical sight rapidly, solidly and inexpensively with no modifications or gunsmithing necessary.
Assembly and Purchasing
The integral frame accessory rail feature was introduced by Glock in 1996 with the introduction of the 3rd Gen series of handguns. Now all 3rd and 4th generation Glock’s have the frame rail incorporated into their design. The G17, G19, G34, G22, G23, G35, G21, G30S, G31, G32, G38 and G37 models made after 1996 are all compatible with the universal handgun sight mount. Assembly complements the Glock Design. Before proceeding with any firearms work, always ensure that the pistol is empty and is in a completely safe condition. Slide the mount onto the integral frame rail from the muzzle end like attaching any other accessory. There is a front locking lever that must be pressed into position to lock the mount onto the rail. Move the two halves of the top split Picatinny rail together and clamp the scope rings or optical sight mounts onto the rail normally. Once this is done, the sighting system, mount and frame are in solid, accurate alignment, ready for any application. Disassembly is easily accomplished by reversing the assembly procedure. UM tactical provides a limited lifetime warranty on every Glock Universal Handgun Sight Mount.
